This program, which is open to participants of all ages, will focus on building a specific type of shelter called a debris hut. Learning how to build an insulated shelter is not only rewarding, but a good skill to have.
This program will begin indoors before going outside. Participants will be given a brief tutorial on the steps to build an A-frame style shelter that traps heat and sheds water. After a brief guided walk to the building location, attendees will use what the forest provides to start constructing. A test will be performed to see how waterproof the shelter is before being disassembled in order to leave no trace.
Advanced registration is encouraged, as space is limited.
$4.00 per person, up to $12.00 per family
