Spring Break at the Center

  • Wednesday, April 16, 2025, 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM

The Amboy 4-H Environmental Education Center will be presenting a variety of nature programming over Spring Break, the week of April 14th through April 18th. If you and your family are unable to attend a scheduled program, the trails at the Center are open from dawn to dusk, 365 days a year. There is no fee to park and there are trail maps at each kiosk. Spring is a great time to get outside and reconnect with nature!

There will be a Story Book Trail throughout Trout Brook Trail during the entire week of Spring Break. The story, Goodbye Winter, Hello Spring, follows the changing of the seasons from cold, blistering nights to warmer, sunshine-filled days. This is a self-guided story book trail, and we encourage all families to get outside and explore nature together during the changing seasons! Maps will be left in the front kiosk as you park so families can walk the other trails after they finish the story book trail. There is no fee for the Story Book Trail.

On Wednesday, April 16th at 1:00 p.m., join the environmental educator in the Schoeck Education Building for a Spring Break Guided Hike. Participants will have the opportunity to explore blooming wildflowers, listen to the calls of returning birds, and learn about the ecosystems awakening after a snowy winter. This guided hike is perfect for nature enthusiasts of all ages who are looking to enjoy the changing of the seasons. Come reconnect with nature as we welcome spring and sunnier, brighter days ahead!

Please dress appropriately for whatever the weather may be. Wearing hiking boots or shoes that are okay to get wet and muddy are highly encouraged.

The recommended age for these programs is 5+. All youth must be accompanied by an adult.

Fee

For Wednesday’s program, only $4 per person, or $12 for a family. Children under the age of three are free! No fee for the Story Book Trail.
