Every autumn, millions of birds travel south, passing right through our local woods and wetlands. Join us for a brief indoor presentation followed by a guided trail walk to spot migrating birds in action!

By August, migration has begun and for certain species, continues as late as November. Learn the basics of bird migration in autumn, focusing on ducks, warblers, and hummingbirds, and some easy ways to support migratory species in your own yard.

Then take a guided trail walk to discover which species of birds have paused their migration to rest in the woods or wetlands of the Amboy 4-H Environmental Education Center.

All skill levels and ages welcome!

Fee

$4.00 per person and up to $12.00 per family. Advanced registration is encouraged, as space is limited.

Philosophy

The best way to learn about ecology is to be out in it! Amboy 4-H Environmental Education Center is a laboratory where youth and adults can observe nature first hand, alone or under the guidance of one of the Center’s Environmental Educators. Public programs often feature guest presenters who are recognized leaders in the fields of wildlife management, outdoor education, and botany. It is also the Center’s belief that learning should be fun.
