‘Tis the season for all things spooky, and what better way to add a thrill to your evening than by walking through the woods after sunset! Come join our natural resources educator for a new moon hike on October 22nd from 6:45 p.m. to 8:15 p.m.
Before heading out on the trail, the program will commence inside the Schoeck Building. We’ll dive into the different phases of the moon and what causes them to change. After brushing up on terms such as waxing gibbous and waning crescent, attendees can break out their flashlights as we brave the woods. A clear sky, paired with the recent new moon, would make this an ideal opportunity for stargazing.
Cloudy or not, there will be plenty to explore. Crepuscular and nocturnal animals will be out searching for food; sounds will be different. Towards the end of the hike, participants will even get to test how well their night vision has developed.
This program is open to people of all ages. Residency in Oswego County is not required.
$4 per person and up to $12 per family
