Celebrate National Trails Day

You're invited to celebrate National Trails Day by volunteering at the Amboy 4-H Environmental Education Center! While the official National Trails Day falls on the first Saturday of June, this event provides an opportunity for local residents to contribute the following weekend to the care and upkeep of this treasured natural space.

Participants will join Extension staff for a rewarding morning focused on improving and preserving the center’s trail system. Volunteer tasks will include spreading wood chips, raking pine needles, planting saplings, and trimming tree branches. Tools and wheelbarrows will be available, though volunteers are welcome to bring their own equipment if preferred.

Complimentary refreshments will be provided to all volunteers. Registration is requested to help organizers plan accordingly and ensure ample refreshments for participants.

Philosophy

The best way to learn about ecology is to be out in it! Amboy 4-H Environmental Education Center is a laboratory where youth and adults can observe nature first hand, alone or under the guidance of one of the Center’s Environmental Educators. Public programs often feature guest presenters who are recognized leaders in the fields of wildlife management, outdoor education, and botany. It is also the Center’s belief that learning should be fun.
