Scarecrow Contest at the Family Fall Festival

Show off your fall spirit and creativity by participating in the Scarecrow Contest held during the Oswego County Family Fall Festival!

Cornell Cooperative Extension of Oswego County is accepting registrations for a Scarecrow Contest held during the Agriculture Society of Oswego County's Family Fall Festival, at the Oswego County Fairgrounds, Sandy Creek. 

The contest is open to all clubs, groups, organization, businesses, families, and individuals. Participants can choose one of these five categories:

• Individual Youth (12 years of age and younger)
• Individual Youth (13-18 years of age)
• More than one Youth (any ages)
• Family
• Adult Group/Club or Business

Scarecrow entries are to be setup on Friday, October 4th between 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. All entries will be on display for the duration of the festival.

Scarecrows will be judged on Originality, Workmanship, and General Appearance. Judging will start at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, October 5th and end at Sunday, October at 6th at noon. Awards will be announced at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, October 6th.

Entrants who wish to keep their scarecrows and props must claim them between 2:00 and 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, October 6th. Any scarecrows not picked up will be recycled.

Rules:

1. All entries must be family friendly, entirely original, and the sole work of the entrant.
2. Scarecrows must be at least 4 feet tall, but not taller than 7 feet and will be displayed outdoors in a grassy area.
3. Participants will set up their scarecrow and must supply the pole, chair, base or other items that will support and anchor their scarecrow. All construction materials are the responsibility of the contestants.

Pre-registration is requested before Tuesday, October 2, 2024.

The Agriculture Society of Oswego County and Cornell Cooperative Extension of Oswego County are not responsible for lost, stolen or damaged items.
