Sweater Mittens

The Amboy 4-H Environmental Education Center is celebrating America Recycles Day on Sunday, November 19th December 10th at 1:00 p.m. Join our 4-H educators for this fun, hands-on program of reusing old, wool sweaters and turning them into mittens! This program is intended for intermediate sewers; individuals should be able to sew curves. Participants will be cutting their mittens using a provided pattern and sewing them together. Space is limited at 8 attendees. This program is open to crafters of all ages!

Please notify the office if you are planning to bring most supplies, but would like to use some of 4-H's (scissors, for example). 

Fee

$15 for 4-H to supply machine, notions and sweater. $10 if bringing personal machine, notions and sweater. Notions include needle, thread, pins, etc.

From Pulaski:

  1. Take County Route 13 South to Williamstown.
  2. Turn right on to State Route 183.The entrance will be on the left after 1 mile.

From Camden:

  1. Take County Route 13 North to Williamstown.
  2. Turn left onto State Route 183.The entrance will be on the left after 1 mile.

From Oswego:

  1. Take State Route 104 East until it ends at the junction of County Route 13.
  2. Turn right on to County Route 13. Follow instructions “From Pulaski.”

From Syracuse:

  1. Take I-81 North to Parish; exit 33 (County Route 69).
  2. Follow instructions “ From Parish.”

Philosophy

The best way to learn about ecology is to be out in it! Amboy 4-H Environmental Education Center is a laboratory where youth and adults can observe nature first hand, alone or under the guidance of one of the Center’s Environmental Educators. Public programs often feature guest presenters who are recognized leaders in the fields of wildlife management, outdoor education, and botany. It is also the Center’s belief that learning should be fun.
