RESCHEDULED DUE TO WEATHER

All About Beavers has been rescheduled from Tuesday, August 10th, to Thursday, August 26th, due to predicted thunderstorms in the area. We apologize for any inconvenience and hope you'll join us then!

A short indoor presentation on the often-hidden lives of beavers will be followed by a hike to the pond in hopes of observing the resident beavers maintaining their lodge and gathering food for the upcoming winter.

These programs are designed for families; however, individuals may attend. Pre-registration for all programs is required. Fully vaccinated individuals are not required to wear a mask, consistent with the New York State’s implementation of the recent CDC guidance. However, vaccinated individuals may choose to wear masks (or other acceptable face covering) and maintain social distancing at their own discretion. Unvaccinated individuals are required to wear a mask (or other acceptable face covering) indoors and when six feet of social distancing is not possible outdoors, consistent with the New York State’s implementation of the recent CDC guidance. Participants are still required to sign Cornell Cooperative Extension’s Assumption of the Risk and Waiver of Liability Relating to Covid-19 prior to attending the program. 

Fee

$4.00 per person up to $12.00 per family. Children under the age of 3 are free.

From Parish:

  1. Take County Route 69 East for 9 miles in to Amboy Center.
  2. Turn left onto State Route 183. Go north for 4 miles; entrance is on the right.

From Pulaski:

  1. Take County Route 13 South to Williamstown. 
  2. Turn right on to State Route 183.The entrance will be on the left after 1 mile.

From Camden:

  1. Take County Route 13 North to Williamstown.
  2. Turn left onto State Route 183.The entrance will be on the left after 1 mile.

From Oswego:

  1. Take State Route 104 East until it ends at the junction of County Route 13.
  2. Turn right on to County Route 13. Follow instructions “From Pulaski.”

From Syracuse:

  1. Take I-81 North to Parish; exit 33 (County Route 69).
  2. Follow instructions “ From Parish.”

Philosophy

The best way to learn about ecology is to be out in it! Amboy 4-H Environmental Education Center is a laboratory where youth and adults can observe nature first hand, alone or under the guidance of one of the Center’s Environmental Educators. Public programs often feature guest presenters who are recognized leaders in the fields of wildlife management, outdoor education, and botany.It is also the Center’s belief that learning should be fun.
