DESCRIPTION:This workshop will identify vegetables that make sense to grow on small acreage, including under high and low tunnel season extension.Joshua Vrooman, Agriculture Educator for Cooperative Extension of Oswego County, will discuss how small farms are best positioned for sales that are directed towards local consumers, retailers, and institutions.&amp;nbsp;Judson Reid, Extension Vegetable Specialist for Cornell Harvest NY, will highlight crops best grown under high tunnels.&amp;nbsp;Robert Hadad, Extension Vegetable Specialist for Cornell Vegetable Program, will cover field crops and low tunnel season extension. Other considerations will include site selection, pest management, and other good agricultural practices.&amp;nbsp;Afterwards, Bill Ingersoll, owner of Ingersoll Farms, will provide a short tour and discuss other important factors of running a mixed vegetable farm, including a farm stand and selling at farmers’ markets.
