DESCRIPTION:Being able to orient oneself
 using one’s surroundings is a helpful skill to have, especially when visiting a
 new trailhead for the first time. June 6th
 is also National Trails Day, so it provides the perfect opportunity for people
 to get out and explore a scenic trail nearby.Participants will learn the basics of deciphering trail maps inside before
 taking a compass in hand and becoming familiar with how it works. Once their navigating confidence has
 increased, they will head outside on a guided trek to various waypoints before
 reaching the ultimate spot where hidden “treasure” will be awaiting them. In addition, attendees may choose to take
 home free Norway spruce or red oak saplings, while supplies last.This program offers a unique
 opportunity to have fun outdoors while learning about, or brushing up on, a
 useful skill set. Advanced registration is encouraged, as space is limited.
