Get Wet and Keep Cool in August at Amboy 4-H Environmental Education Center

Beat the heat this August at the Amboy 4-H Environmental Education Center with two public programs that they will be presenting. On Tuesday, August 11th at 10:00 AM, kids of all ages are invited to enjoy a “wet and wild” summer morning adventure with naturalist Pat Carney. Participants will hike through Rowell Brook, investigating wildlife that lives in and near the brook. Feet will get wet while hands are busy exploring for crayfish, minnows, insect larva, and other water world creatures. Old clothes and footgear, such as old sneakers or water shoes, are strongly recommended; for safety, no flip-flops please.

Then on Sunday, August 16th at 2:00 PM, come for a walk through the cool woodlands and wetlands of the Center to explore the world of salamanders. Following a short slide presentation on the natural history and identification of native salamanders, participants will search under logs, along the brook edge, seeps, and ponds to discover these wonderfully secretive amphibians of our woodlands. Everyone should wear clothes that may get wet and/or muddy such as water-proof boots or old sneakers.

These programs are designed for people of all ages. There is a $4.00 fee per person or $12.00 per family.
